Nissan Reveals Pulsar and Pulsar Nismo Concept

This month at the Paris Auto Show Nissan revealed their newest concept!  This is something I'm extremely excited about as Nissan has never really attempted to market a car like this before.  The new Nissan Pulsar Nismo looks to be nissan's entry into the hot-hatch division, which looks to compete with the likes of the Ford Focus ST, Volkswagen GTI, and MazdaSpeed3. Nissan will do this by giving the Pulsar Nismo +250hp, sporty lowered suspension, a limited-slip differential and of course a rear mounted spoiler, as well as other aerodynamic features.

There will also be this 187h, 1.6-liter direct-injection four version without all the fancy sports packages and stiffened suspension.

Motor Trend's 2014 Best Driver's Car

http://www.motortrend.com/features/performance/1409_2014_motor_trends_best_drivers_car/

In this months issue of Motor Trend Magazine, Motor Trend revealed their picks for the best drivers cars of 2014, as well as the #1 best drivers car you can get this year. That being said the picks and subsequent testing seemed to be more focused on how fun the cars were on the track, rather than how great the cars were for canyon carving or spirited freeway drives.

The newest models from 10 prestigious car manufacturers were put to the test, which included a skid pad test to measure maximum lateral G force produced by each vehicle, a timed figure eight,  a 0-60mph acceleration time, and a 60-0 breaking distance. To finish it off each car was taken for 3 laps around Mazda Razeway Laguna Seca by professional driver Randy Pobst. If you want to see the results of each test in detail you can check out Motor Trends website at the link posted above, but im going to cut right to the chase. Which car is best drivers car of the year ? Below is the final results, but be prepared to be astonished.

10th 2015 Golf GTI
9th 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe
8th 2015 BMW i8
7th 2015 Subaru WRX STI
6th 2014 Ford Fiesta ST
5th 2015 BMW M4
4th 2015 Nissan GTR Nismo Edition
3rd 2014 Porche 911 Turbo S
2nd 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C
1st 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

See anything surprising on this list ? The first thing i noticed was a $21,000 Ford Fiesta placed higher than some very expensive cars! It's absolutely insane considering the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe and BMW i8 retail at well over $100,000. The most astonishing thing though, is the best car of the year is a Camaro! Everyone who worked on the Z/28 with GM should be extremely proud of this achievement, especially after coming in 10th place at last years "Best Driver's Car". The Z/28 has a roaring 7.0 litre V8 that turns out 505 Hp and pushes the car to 60mph in just 4 seconds flat. If you'd like to check out a video on the 2015 Camaro Z/28 you can below.

Big Tesla Announcements

On October 9th (my birthday),  Tesla CEO Ellon Musk made the extremely exciting announcement uncovering the massive secret What is the model D? A question being asked by many after Ellon made this post on his twitter page, "about time to unveil the D and something else."

This tweet created a massive rush of rumours and consumer speculations, some hoping and thinking it stood for a hybrid turbo diesel model. Well Ellon has cleared all that up, and it's much, much more exciting than a turbo diesel engine.  While it's not an entirely new car as speculated, it's a massive upgrade to their existing Model S lineup. Basically, "D stands for dual motor" Ellon explained, "Dual motor, all wheel drive, so you have for the first time, a Model S where all wheels are providing traction." Not only do these dual motors increase efficiency and drive time, but when coupled with the new all-wheel-drive system, the new Tesla Model S can achieve a 0-60mph time of 3.2 seconds. That puts the new Tesla Model S D among the fastest sedans in the entire world.

Not only that but there's something else... All new Tesla Motor vehicles being shipped from now on are going to include the hardware necessary for autopilot. Thats right, autopilot. What does autopilot really mean? What does it entail? Well according to Ellon Musk, with the aid of multiple sensors and cameras the new Tesla will accelerate, brake, lane change, and of course park itself all while you relax in the driver seat. In fact, the car will even be able to drive with no one inside it at all. That means on a cold winter day you can actually summon the car to your front door, with the heat and radio set just the way you like it.

To hear this straight from Mr. Ellon Musk himself check out Teslas Youtube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ6lZJWL_Xk

Tesla has been slightly bashed in the past by car enthusiasts for being too expensive and not giving their customers enough luxuries or performance to warrant their $100,000 price tag. Although the new model is about $15,000 more expensive, how do you feel about the new Tesla Model S D? Do you feel the longer driving time, outstanding 0-60 numbers, all wheel drive, and auto pilot warrant this almost $120,000 auto mobile ?  Let me know in the comments below!

Hi! My name is Kern O'Leary and I'm a first year Marketing and Advertising student at Sheridan College.

For as long as i can remember I've had this over whelming fascination with auto-motives. As a boy growing up i was infatuated with sports cars, luxury sedans, trucks, and Jeeps. Living in Toronto and Oakville Ontario blessed me with the opportunity to see the cars of my dreams every single day. I thought to myself with some dedication and hard work, someday I would be able to afford the automotive machine i sought so hard after. This desire for a perfect vehicle has not only given me the passion I need to perform at my job and in school, but has also created a massive personal obsession with car technology.

Lets face it, vehicles aren't cheap, and its nice to know exactly what features you're getting, and how they work when you're finally deciding to throw down your payment.  That's why i started this blog, to bring you up to date auto news on performance, luxury, and safety features, as well as car comparisons meant to spark interesting conversation and give helpful consumer insight.
